City Council Proceedings
All members were present at the city council meeting Monday evening. The light committee was authorized to purchase a car load of light poles. A resolution confirming the assessments on the narrowing of Rachel street was passed and the clerk was directed to certify the assessment to the city treasurer. The Jasper County Drainage Association, which owns the bed of the Iroquois river, again asked permission to deed the channel and the rock therefrom to the city. The council seems to regard the offer with suspicion and has referred the matter to the city attorney to ascertain the liability of the city in accepting the gift. _ The clerk was Instructed to keep all bills for expenses of the engineer and superintendent of streets that are under improvement separate that these expenses may be charged to the improvement The matter of purchasing a dynamo for the light plant was continued until the next meeting.
