Denies Cable to Mr. Hearst

President Samuel Gompers of the American Federation of Labor is quoted in. a telegram sent out from Erie, Pa., as denying that he cabled to Hearst says there is no truth in the published report. Of course, some one did telegraph to Mr. Hearst and whether or not it was Mr. Gompers does not matter. The article published in the Republican was Mr. Hearst’s reply as published in his newspapers, and is a fitting chastisement of the varicolored Nebraskan.
