The Wheatfield Regulars Zurnlsheft thrills to the .local fans yesterday, when they conflicted with our "Wrens-’’ They went home apparentily satisfied, as Dr. Jteuch and his fob lowers carried the long end of i 1 (to 1 score Wheatfield, for many moons has .had a baseball team to he proud of. Yesterday, somewhat -Crippled by the loss of Ray Anderson the catcher, who was out owing to a battered hand, they put up a kplendid game Jta every department thereof. .. ’ ’*_] Our P. While Dobbie pitched ball that should win any game and white bls support was all that the most exacting fan could expect, we must lay our defeat to our inability to hit one James Anderson, who did the slab work for Wheatfield. Homer only allowed the reputed Sluggers from the north, four hits. He passed but two men. The Wrens got away with five hits and one pass. Each pitcher has seven strike outs to his credit The Wrens draw five errors, Wheatfield two. In the opening stanza McNeil got first on error and scored on Texas leaguer. Zeuch got first by Dobbie trying to cover too much territory, and scored on overthrow. The Grays counted in the third.
Beethaxs hit safe to right Zeuch scored dxlm by scratch twoifaagger to left | Again they scored tin the fifth round. .Anderson hit autely over third, stole second, got third <jan overthrow .and scored on grounder to jtocond, .which SwartzaJLl did not .handle fast. enough to nip .the oinner <at the plate. The Wrens got a hit in the sixth, and .one in the seventh, but "Andy" kept them so well scattered that we never were very dangerous. We had men on third a couple of times, but the needed hit was not forthcoming. flwai tzell managed to become tangled In a double In the sixth stanza.
