County Has Received $2,106.43 Interest.
One of the excellent laws pa-sed ’by the last legislature was the one that provided for the depositories for all public funds, relieving the officer of responsibilltay after the mcney was deposited and that provided for interest on the money deposited. All the banks in Jasper county were given a part of the funds of the various corporations having funds, and they make a report each month of the amount of money they have had for thirty days and pay the Interest on It at the rate of 2 per cent per annum, thus the interest is compounded each 30 daya County Treasurer Allman has figured up the interest on county funds for the Mx months of 1908 ended on June 30th and finds that the county has received Interest In the sum of >2,106.43. The second half of the year will probably not bring quite as much interest as the first half, but It is quite certain that almost >4,000 will be realized Thea the city and township and school corporation funds are also drawing Interest. The new law was passed by a republican legislature and has resulted in the saving of several hnnred thousand dollars to the people of the state
