One Crusher Shot Down.
Contractor Smith has decided to close down one of the stone crushers until the dredge has passed the lower one and he has constructed a bridge over the channel so that the haul can be shortened to the south part of town. While he has had this move in mind for some time his action was hastened by some of the men on the lower crusher refusing to work Saturday afternoon. It seems that some of the men thought the day too hot to work and others wanted to lay off to hear he socialist talk on the subject of unequal distribution of the product of labor, and so shortly after 1 o’clock when Mr. Smith went to the lower crusher he found that it had shut down. He had all the men notifies to return and they did so, but there were not enough willing to work to keep both crushers going, so he ran only the one, and decided that he would not start the other one up tor some time. All the teams will be kept at work making longer hauls, and when the other crusher resumes work the former employees will* be given an opportunity to return to work.
