Blowed a Hole in the Bridge.
Another ten of blasting powder was received Wednesday and blasting was today resumed at the river bed. The first charge this morning plowed a bighole in the bottom of the Washington street bridge and hung the heavy rope net into the timbers of the structure. The plank of the bridge were not broken, being merely pulled loose and the bridge was soon repaired, Subsequent shots did no damage to the bridge and the last blast was below the bridge. There has been some danger all the time to the water main that lays in the river bed and it is feared it may be wrecked by the last but every precaution is being taken to protect it.
