A NEW PRINCIPAL FOR LOCAL SCHOOL
Charles F. Bradshaw, of Indianapolis, to Succeed J. H. Gray.
The school board have decided on a principal to succeed J. H. Gray, who resigned in order to accept a more lucrative position as principal c£t Huntington. The new principal will be Charles F. Bradshaw, of Indianapolis, who graduated this year from Indiana University, and who comes with the endorsement of Prof. Holland, once a Rensselaer teacher and now of the university faculty. Ha also has the endorsement of Prof. Sanders, now the superintendent at Bloomington, and also was recommended here by the president of the university. Mr. Bradshaw was here and appeared before the board and erdhted a very favorable Impression. A primary teacher has also been selected, namely, Miss Edna Behrens, formerly a teacher in the Goodl&nd schools. She is a graduate of Terre Haute, and will take the place made vacant by the resignation of Miss Minnie Tlnkham, who has been employed as the critic teacher in the Tri-State Normal school at Angola,
Ind. The position secured by Miss Tinkham is a difficult one to fill, but she seems adequately suited for it, and went there a week or two after school closed here to accept the place. No steps have so far been taken to fill the place made vacant by the resignation of Prof. Sandifur, the botany and zoology teacher, who has been employed as the superintendent of the schools at Orleans, Ind. The room taught by Miss Knox the past year is also to be supplied with a teacher. It was understood when Miss Perkins left that grade the year before that she was tb have it again after taking a year’B work at Terre Haute, but Miss Perking has made such splendid progress that her ability has attracted the attention of the Terre Haute professors and she has accepted a position in the Indianapolis schools at a large advance over the pay. for the teaching in Rensselaer. Miss Peklns is also one of the teacherß in the Terre Haute normal this summer at the very good salary of |2O a week.
