CELEBRATE 50th WEDDING YEAR
200 Friends Assemble at Home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Randle on Marriage Anniversary. The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Randle was celebrated Tuesday, June 2, at the home of this estimable old couple in Rensselaer, and relatives and friends to the number of about 200 assembled and the event was so full of joy and good feeling for the host and hostess that the home was fairly wreathed in smiles. One guest said he never saw a groom of half a century so happy in his life as was Henry Randle and the conclusion was that after fifty years of association with his wife he was as thoroughly satisfied that he had secured a prize as he was when with light heart and buoyant hopes they were married so many, many years ago. The fiftieth anniversary was March 23rd, but the weather Was bad at that time and Mrs. Randle was not feeling very well, so it was postponed in order that all his old friends could have an opportunity to be present and fortunately a most favorable day was selected, the weather being ideal. Friends and relatives gathered from fai and near for the evejjt and there were many baskets full of the very best that the guests could prepare. It wan a picnic and wedding anniversary combined and had all the good qualities of both. It was strictly informal and was meant for a gathering of qld time friends and it was just what it was aimed to be, and the incidents of the early history of Jasper county were gone over and there was a buzz of many happy voices throughout the house and over the lawn, and the tables were spread to seat 60- people and the tables were occupied by three sets of guests, each vieing with the other in making merry and in testing their capacity for eating of the abundance of good things. And while the third table of grown-ups were feasting at the tables about thirty children were eating out on the lawn, and when all had finished tlje.e was enough left to feed, as large a crowd right over again. It was an old fashioned way of celebrating ancT itTs a right fine way, where there is no chance of forgetting any of one’s old friends and where everybody' feels good and eats hearty. On March 23, 1858, W. H. Randle and Miss Mary Stiers were married, the event taking place in Hanging Grove township, his county, and they tarklft tho hattaa nr worse proposition and for fifty years they have been having it better right here in old Jasper. Mr. and Mrs. Randle were the recipients of many valuablepresents and the high esteem in which they are held by their many friends was evidenced by the gifts they received.
