Lecture Course for Next Year.
It is not improbable that so far las the Library Board is concerned, • the lecture courses here may not be continued. It is stated that the board this year fell considerably behind in a financial way and that they do not care to take upon themselves the responsibility of another course. A representative of a lecture bureau was here a few days ago and I after talking with members of the board and after getting their views, decided to call the ministers together, and Rev. H. L. Kindig, of the Methodist, Rev. G. H. Clarke, of the Christian, and Rev. J. C, Parrett, of the Presbyterian churches talked the matter over with him, and it was decided to make a conditional contract for a five number course, one to be a reading and two to be musical and the other two to be lectures. The condition is that the tickets can be sold and the ministers are given an opportunity to cancel the contract if the advance Bale of tickets for the course does not seem to justify the expense. Should—She —library board —de- ? cide that they desire to conduct the course the ministers are willing to step aside and let them do it. All they want to do is to guarantee that the city shall have a lecture course.
