Pair Oaks
John Umphress and family have moved into the Wilson property. Mr. and Mrs. Van Cleve, of Sheridan parents of Mrs. Geo. Brohard, are here visiting. Tqe entertainment given by the band at the M. E. church was quite a success for the first. John Carder and family, of Laura, came up to attend the funeral of Mrs. Carder’s father, Leander Kessler. Rev. Evenes, of Evanston, is in town calling on the good people and making arrangements for a series of meetings to be held at the M. E. church in the near future. The protracted meeting at Warners’ hall has at last come to a close. Several preachers of more or less ability were here in attendance and we hope lasting good has been done. Mr. Leander Kessler died a very sudden death last Saturday evening 1 May 16. He had gone up to the school house about a fourth of a mile from his home to vote and was coming back over the hill when he was seen to fall to the ground and died in a very few minutes. His funeral was held in the Christian church Monday, interment at Fair Oaks grave yard. He leaves a wife and esveral grown children besides many other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. Mrs. Emma Winslow formerly of Morocco, died Wednesday, May 13. She leaves a husband and 3 grown children besides many other rlatives and friends to mourn her loss. She was a thorough Christian and for man years an active member of the Christian church here, and we feel that our town is better for her having lived in it for so many years. Her I funeral was held in the Christian ' church here last Friday. Interment 1 at Fair Oaks cemetery.
