KEEPING TAB ON CORPORATIONS.
A law providing for full reports from corporations doing business tn Indiana was passed by the last state legislature. From the: secretary of state’B office blank forms for these reports axe sest out to the officers of corporate bodies, which must be returned filled in before August L The Republican party has taken steps to! keep close tab on all corporations and their business operation. And it proposes to go further. In Its state platform this year It declares that "our, laws concerning public service and .other corporations are confused, conflicting and often Inadequate for present needs. We therefore recommend that a bill be -framed prior to the meeting of the next legislature for, its consideration, revising and amending the corporation laws and better regulating the use of public franchises and for the suppression of fictitious and watered stock and carefully safeguarding the rights of the people In the enjoyment of all pnbllc utilities.” That plank of the Republican platform should appeal to all voters. The party stands for the rights of the people and says no corporation shall be allowed to override them. Corporations are the creatures of the state, and any move any of them Ynay make beyond their granted rights will be halted promptly.
