Grover Smith Ditch Case.

The Jasper circuit court convened iu adjourned session this Monday morning to wrestle with the Grover Smith ditch case, from up in the north end of the county, and a large number of land owners from Wheatfield, Keener and Kankakee townships are here to see the case tried. The proposed ditch starts on the Geo. Nichols farm in Walker township and practically follows the old Nichols ditch, enlarging and deepening it. It has been surveyed and the assessments levied, but now remonqtrators are trying to defeat it, and the fight promises to be a warm one. The Northern Indiana Land Co. is opposing the ditch and Attorney Potter, of Lafayette, who is one of the chief stockholders of the company, is examining the witnesses for the remonBtrators. Attorney Williams is assisting him, and Attorneys Halleck and Foltz are representing the petitioners.
