NO OPPOSITION TO JUDGE HANLEY
Democrats Indorse Republican Nominee and Name T. B. Cunningham for Prosecutor. The democrats of the 30th judicial circuit held their convention at Mt Ayr Wednesday and the meeting was presided over by a man named- Hearty, of Goodland, who conducts a moving picture show, and B. N. Fendig, of Rensselaer, was the secretary. The democratic party, by the way, has been more or less of a moving picture show, for sjme years and probably the hearty Mr. Htarty has in mind securing some films of democratic conventions for use in later years. This invention endorsed the republican nominee for judge, Hon. C. W. Hanley, drafting the appended resolutions of commendation of his qualities of honesty and fairness. They nominated T. B. Cunningham for prosecuting attorney. The resolutions adopted are as follows: The democrats of the 30th Judicial Circuit, in delegate convention assembled, recognizing the fact that this Judicial Circuit is controlled by a large republican majority and recognizing the furtb ir fact that the office of judge should be, as far as possible, a non-political office and that the man selected for that high honor should administer the duties of the office fearlessly, fairly * and without political bias and, whereas, the republican party of this district has selected, without opposition, Charles W. Hanley, of Rensselaer, for that office, and, ; Whereas, Mr. Hanley has administered the duties of his oi'fioe during his present incumbency with seeming impartiality and fairness, and, Whereas, it has always bcjm a tenet of democracy that only honest and capable men should be elected to office, and Whereas, we believe that the republican nominee meets these, essentia, requirements, therefore, Be it resolved that the democrats “Of this Judicial district endorse the administration and nomination of Hon Charles W. Hanley to the extent of making no nomination for the office of Judge of this district. Since the Jasper County Democrat stated that it regarded the present officials of Jasper county tbe best the county ever had, and since the state board of charities published its annual report showing that Jasper county’s poor farm superintnedent had made the best record of any poor farm superintendent In tbe state, it begins to look like the democrats In •this county are feeling quite wpll satisfied with the kind of . men that are beiftg placed into office. And now that they have endorsed our circuit judge with eulogistic resolutions, it seems that the best thing the democrats could do would be to vote the entire republican ticket and thus make it unanimous.
