Some Adjourned Court Hatters.
Although court adjourned last Satur day and will not meet again in reguular session until September, there will be several matters brought up during the vacation period. On next Monday, May 18,the Grover Smith ditch petition, the hearing of which was crowded out of the closing days by the Day and Rosenbaum cases, will come up tor bearing and will attract a number of the land owners from the north end. The case has now been in court for some time and it is hoped to finish the fight at this special session. The Hodge ditch matter, on which Judge Isham made a ruling last week, and which was to have been heard on June 11th, has again been postponed to suit the convenience of Attorney Emery Sellers, one of the lawyers, and will now be heard on Jiine 26th. This caae to about the injunction to prevent the auditor and treasurer from making settlement witl the contractors, Yeoman & Farmer, alleging that the ditch was not cleaned according to specifications. 8. E. Sparling dismissed his petition in the circut court for a dtch last Saturday, it having been found, that it did not come within the Jurisdiction of the circuit court under the old ditch law, being over the S3OO cofst limit, so It was dismissed and refiled under the neW ditch law. It will not be heard until the September term of the court There will probably be several other matters come up on adjournment The Newton circuit court will adjourn next week so that Judge Hanley can hear the matters pending here on jostponement.
