A Sunday Scrap at Wheatfield.
A lively scrap occurred at Wheatfield Sunday, and booze was at the bottom of it. Henry Gulbransen and i William Weiss are said to have become intoxicated in the latter’s soft drink emporium, and Mrs. Gulbransen and her mother, Mrs. A. Barlow, went to the restaurant to get Gulbransen, and found him so badly snowed under that he could not accompany them home. Mrs. Barlow and Weiss engaged In a dispute, and Weiss called Mrs. Barlow a "liar.” Mr. Barlow happened to be across the street and heard the remark and he hurried across to the restaurant and struck Weiss across the face. They each struck several blows and Weiss is said to have got a badly blacked eye. A search warrant was then procured and the Weiss restaurant was searched but no liquor was found and the statement of the proprietor that the booze he and Gulbransen had was bought at Tefft, seemed to be substantiated.
