TORNADO RAGES IN INDIANA
4 S T: Narrow Strip Sooth of Indianapolis Visited by Disastrous Storm Sunday Afternoon. .. -This is a season of storms and while this section of Indhna has just been catching the tail ends of tbe heavy winds it has suffered considerable from the heavy rains. Last Friday there were six distinct tornadoes all more or less destructive that visited southern states and resulted In many deaths and Injuries, now estimated at 200 deaths and 500 injuries. Sunday a disastrous wind storm visited a section of Indiana just south ft Indianapolis and done damage estimated at $50,000. Johnson county suffered the greatest damage. Houses were unroofed, barns demolished, live stock kHled and in one Instance several boys were blown a quarter of a mile. Telephone and telegraph wires were blown down. In many places in the state heavy hail accompanied the driving rain M there was some hall in this locality. Richmond, Spencer, Lewis, New Albany, Greenwood and Jasonville all report heavy losses, and fruit was considerably injured by the hail and heavy rains. A general cold wavs followed and fruit, now so generally In bloom, was further endangered.
