County Local Option.
The declaration of the Republicans of the state In favor of county local option places the liquor question directly in the hands of the people for solution, and is in direct variance with the declaration of the Democratic state platform, which favors township local option. The declaration in favor of local option with the township as the unit by the Democrats was at the Instance of the liquor and brewer interests, who would be able to control a large number of the townships of the state With their Immense corruption funds. Under this proposition each township would vote on the question and It would be an easy matter for the liquor Interests to control suffrage. Under the county > unit proposition the entire county would vote at the same time at a special election upon the question of license, and the result of this vote would be the solution of the liquor question for every township in the county. Local option with the township aa the unit la a move in flavor of the liquor interests which controlled the insertion of this plank in the Democratic state platform at the lnstanoe of Thomas Taggart and the brewery interests that he represents. —Sullivan Union.

He Is a good man to have in front, as he will have to bear the brunt of the battle. He can do it. James E. will prove a power on the stamp, and he will have* s v ’“ assistants.
