Jasper Capture Was Indicted.

Everet Merrill, the man captured by officers at Wheatfield last Saturday night, charged an accomplice to the Jones, alias Birmlnghams, ,kidnapers of little TJiiian Wulff, was taken to Chicago, and the folowing Interview was published In Tuesday’s Chicago Dally News: “I am a farm hand,” he said. “Last toll I. and my brother John procured a large load of onions which we in- J tended peddling through Illinois lowa. We Intended to go to Wood Creek, Neb. were in the central j part of lowa one day, when we metj Jones and his wife driving east. We passed them after a long conversation, * but I was tired of traveling with my l brother and deserted his wagon. I caught up with the Jones and asked leave to accompany them back toward Illinois.” “Mrs. Jones often spoke on the way | back of a child she was going to get In Chicago. She said she was homesick for a little girl. I thought she meant a daughter. “We reached the outskirts of Chicago one day and the couple told me to guard the covered wagon while they wont Into the city. They returned at dark with a little girl, who, I now find out, is the Wulff child. She had been crying, but they quieted her, and we started toward Momence. “I had an idea the child was being kidnaped, but It was none of my business. I left the wagon about fifteen miles north of Momence and got a job splitting rails. From there I drifted to Indiana, where I wag arrested. I never read the papers and did not know cf Jones’ arrest. I never kidnaped any children in the west."
