Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 40, Number 59, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 27 March 1908 — Miss Bush in the Lead. [ARTICLE]
Miss Bush in the Lead.
• Several Rensselaer people are gathering up Indianapolis Star votes for Miss Adah E. Bush, the Kentland young lady whose picture was published in the Republican recently. It is an easy matter if you are taking the Star to cut out the coupon and if you will bring them to the Republican a friend of Miss Bush will call here and get the votes for her. The coupon in the Sunday Star is good for three votes. Miss Bush is the laeding candidate from thp Star’s 10th district, the Wednesday paper giving her a vote of 28,226. The second in the race in this district is Miss Ruth Coombs, of Lebanon, who the same day had a vote of 27,384. Miss Ida Beal, the Jasper county candidate, has evidently not entered into the race very spiritedly, as she only has 170 votes to her credit The Star, as heretofore stated, is going to send eleven young women on a delightful trip abroad, and from all accounts Miss Bush is both a deserving and a very talented young woman. She expects soon to visit Rensselaer and to personally endeavor to inspire her campaign. In a letter thanking The Republican for the interest it has taken in her race, she says in true political style: “I am in the race to stay, and it begins to look now like it had simmered ' down in this district to the extreme northwest and southeast candidates. I will be very grateful for any Votes yon may be able to Influence for me, and will attempt to do some personal work in your vicinity before long.” 1 So friends of the candidate or those who card to assist a worthy young woman to take this trip may leave the Btar coupons at this office.
