Martin Wins Wrestling Match.
“Billy” Martin had no difficulty in disposing of his rival in the wrestling match at the opera house Friday night, winning both falls. He was about 20 pounds lighter than Freddie Rodgers, but he possessed all the science and in less than 10 minutes after the gong sounded he had Rodgers three points down and Referee Mills slapped him on the back. The crowd was very small, not that wrestling is not popular, but because the impression prevailed that the contest was going to be a fake. If the sport could be started here and some of the local boys would take it up, it is quite probable it would become well patronized.
