Saturday afternoon and night Simple minded old Uncle Tom, the finicky Aunt Ophelia, the kind hearted Phin-* neas, the son George, the funny Marks or maybe two of them, and the blood hounds and the donkey with the burr beneath the saddle, and Littel Eva will die and everything else will occur that goes to make Uncle Tom’s Cabin always interesting and always draw a large crowd. The modem Uncle Tom may hide some of the pathos produced in the original story of Mrs. Southworth by the introduction of comedy, but it is due the children to let them see the play and thus familiarize them with some of the conditions responsible for the civil war. And the older folks have not and never will lose Interest in the performance.
