Shinkee Had the Grip.
Amos Shinkie, who is well knowoin and around both Roselawn andThayer, was taken in custody Monday morning by Deputy Sheriff Fuller and the Monon railroad special detective Macksey, of Lafayette. It appears Shlnkle was a passenger on the milk train south Saturday night and on reaching Thayer Shinkie threw ,his hunting coat over a large grip belonging to another party enroute to Lafayette, who at the time was In the rear end of the coach and did notnotice Shinkie take his baggage. Shortly after the train left Thayer the passenger was Informed that Shinkie had taken his grip, and when the! train reached here the passenger and the Monon detective got off and went back to Thayer and discovered Shlnkle in possession of the stolen grip. A warrant was procured and the prisoner was taken to the Rensselaer jail for safe keeping. Shlnkle wa* given a hearing in a hurry and sentenced on his plea of guilty from one to eight years in the jplace on the lake.
