To Supply an Omission.

Once in a while sarcastic letters are received by state officials. Not infrequently some citizen of the state who sends in a report of some kind to the state statistician appends to the report a message giving his views on all questions of national importance. It is not so often, however, that a private citizen voluntarily sends in a letter expressing his personal views. Frank L. Grubbs, assistant secretary of state, received that kind of letter the other day. It came from a man In the northern part of the state and was as follows: “Dear Sir—After a careful examination of the poll books in this county; I find that there is one resident who is not a notary public. I hereby make application for a commission for him.” —lndianapolis News.
