Sternburg Boat Again Afloat.
The Sternberg dredge boat located in the Monon ditch, near Monon, and that suffered a big juncture by colliding with the ice when it was backed down stream about two weeks ago, and which filled with water and sunk to the bottom of the channel, is again afloat. * Chas. Templeton, who lives in Rensselaer, helped rescue the dredge, and related the plan of operations to the Republican Monday. The' first thing done was to stretch a strong piece of water tight canvass around the submerged parts of the boat and over the hole that let the water in that caused it to sink. The pressure caused it to cling so snugly to the boat that the water is withheld, and then the use of the pumps is begun. They had two pumps that each had a stream of 8 inches and they were not long in emptying the boat. Then they plugged up the hole and the boat ’was aB good as Never. The dredge boat and its machinery equipment is worth about $30.000. Work will not be resumed for about two weeks. Mr. Templeton got a bad fall during the rescue work and will walk with a limp for several days.
