Andrew Potts, who has been farming up near Parr, was in town today settling some business matters prior to his leaving tomorrow for Wesco, Crawford county. Mo., near which place he has a farm of 140 acres. His family will remain Behind for a short time.
The High School basket ball team will meet the St. Joe quintette* Wednesday night, at the college. This is the second game for the high school and the thii d for St. jJoe. will be an interesting game ontside of a spectacular stand point as it will show the comparative etreugtb of the Rensselaer and j Montieello teams as Mouticello has I beaten St. Joe twice, by a decesive .score.

Emmet aud W. H. Pullin, leading poultry fauciers, went to Lafayette today to attend the Tippecanoe county poultry show, and to gather a few pointers for au exhibit proposed for Jasper county next year. It is understood that several members of the old association will again revive the annual exhibit feature and that the aim will be to have the finest show next year ever held ia the county. Augustus Phillips, the actor, is home from New York for a few •lays visit with his father, Simon Phillips, who has been sick for several days. Today Gns went to Fowler t> visit his sister there. The Spooners, to whose company Gua has belonged for so many years, continue to grow and thrive in New York, aud are now moving irom the Kieth & Proctor theatre which they have occupied for the past year, to £he Lincoln Squate 1 heatre, a larger, newer and better located theatre,, having a seating capacity for 1,700 people. This i heatre will be under the direct management of Mrs. Spooner, whereas t~e former house was oc copied on contract. Their new location is on Broadway and at the Mitiway euterauce. Gus is looking fine and bis uiauy friends here always have a hearty welcome for Lim when he comes home.

Taxpayers of the various townships should, for purposes ot keeping posted about tha expenses ot the townships, go over these reports very th,oroly. This is the object of the law in requiring them pnblishbd and the more people in each township that are familar with the business affairs of the township, the better its management and the better pleased yoor trustee will be.
