Given Key To the City.
Marshal Parks acting under orders from Mayor Ellis has presented Dr. I. M. Washburn with a large key attached to which was the appended inscription. It Fwre the official seal of the Mayor. The occasion for the act was the birth on Christmas day of a son to the doctor. Two previous births of the feminine kind had occurred in the doctor’s family, and tha “boy wanted” sign had bean avident in the doctor’s face lor a long time. That this desire should have beau answered on Christmas day demonstrated a friendly contrivance between the stork and Santa Clans, and the doctor’s friends, realizing his overjoyed condition desired to confer upon him complete latitude, and the key to the city was the entcome: Te the first born son Of the house of Washburn: Gseetinos: Agreeable to the ancient castom of welcoming a distinguished guest I hereby send greetings and extend to yon the freedom of the city. Sending key to same, Yours truly, J. H. 8. Ellis, Mayor.
