Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 40, Number 28, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 13 December 1907 — Who Stole the Clapper? [ARTICLE]
Who Stole the Clapper?
This question is being asked about the school house, and if it is answered and the culprit can be found there will be something doing in the Superintendent office, and it is quite ap: to terminate the education in the Rensselaer public school of the guilty party or parties. The tapper was swiped some time Tuesday night and the rope, which had been cut loose from the wheel, was then tied to the bell. If the youthful villiaus who do these things could be apprehended and made to face a charge of malicious trespass or willful destruction of property, it would serve as a splendid lesson. About a dozen children were lata at school on account of the bell not ringing and many people who do not have clocks were caused great inconvenience. Get your Christmas presents at The G. E.
