Delphi Interurban Great Thing.

The editor of the Republican was in Delphi Sunday and inquired of many people regarding the effect the interurbau railway thru that town has had upon trade conditions. As Delphi is just about half way between Lafayette and Logansport and leas than twenty miles from either, it was expected these larger towns would seriously impair trade. This does rot seem to have resulted and merchants re port that more money is spent by farmers and residents trf small towns who come in on the interur ban than is lost by those people who go away from home to trade. But Delphi people as a rule are enraptured with the advantages the electric road famishes. They can r wayevery'BouF or.so, can attend theatres and other affairs at night at either city and as one party expressed it, “the internrban is the realization 'of aDelphi d i earn of many years, and nic«i than we had thought it would be." Now Delphi is in line for another internrban line to parallel the Monon railroad from Frankfort. This goad might possibly be brought on to Rensselaer. The trains are crowded almost all the time and there is every reason to believe that they are making lots of money. In addition to the passenger traffic they cariy freight and express and they are growing in this business. The line thrn Delphi has not yet put sleeping pnllmans on their trains bat on the limited trains they have a small dining service. The Delphi station is a splendid brief; building with nice waiting room, toilets, freight room, and dynamo room. It is conducted by a young man named Gardner, who is the ticket agent, operator of the road’s telephone station, and looks after the big dynamo and the various electric devices required at the renewing station. The power "house is located at Fort Wayne and there are 13 power renewing stations between that city and Lafayette. The internrban is a business builder and if Rensselaer is fortunate enough to get one it should make this place a 5,0u0 city within three or four years.
