Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 40, Number 25, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 3 December 1907 — The Monnett Deaconess Home for Girl. [ARTICLE]
The Monnett Deaconess Home for Girl.
Miss Cordelia Monnett has given her home on College road, west of the river, to the Order of Deaconess of the M. E. church, to be used as a school-home for young girls. One of the great demands upon the church and the Christian worker today, is the care of the child without a home. The Deaconess orphanages at Lake Bluff and Urbana. 111. are full to overflowing, but the’ class of girls between the ages of those in baby fold and those in the girls seminary is still unprovided for. This institution hopes to meet that demand. To this home will be admitted girls who have a parent, guardian, or friend who can pay a moderate amount for their support in a Christian home where school privileges are provided. Girls with no support will be admitted and cared for as soon as a fund can be established for the support of such. This Home will b<> opened in the near future with Mrs. Etta B. Wilson and Miss Winnie Crouch in charge.
