News of Former Resident’s Death.
A. F. Long has received a copy of the Olathe, Kang., Mirror, giviDg an extended obituary-es James B. Mahaffie, who died there on Oct. 13th. The paper publishes the pictures of Mr. Mabaffie and his wife, who died in 1903. They had Ifred in and near Olathe since 1857, having gone there from Jasper county, lud. Many old residents will remember them. Mr. Mahaffie was born near Fayette, Ohio, Apr. 25, 1817, and was therefore 90 years, 5 months apd 18 days old when he died. * . His family came to Cass county when he was a boy and later oome to Jasper county and he was married in this county to Miss Lucinda Henderson in 1844. He made a visit to this county about twenty years ago. He was a highly repec ted pioneer of Kansas and the paper spoke laudably of his life’s accomplishments.
