$250 for One Ear of Corn.
During the recent corn show at Chicago, L. B. Clore, of Franklin, Ind., was one of the exhibitors. Corn raised on his farm won for him SB,OOO in prizes. Ten ears of this were the sweepstake winners. The beßt ear of the ten was put up for sale. An instructor at the lowa Agricultural College wanted the ear, and bidding was ran up to $225, by“-$5 bi4s- Then Mr. Clore said he would pay $250, and the other man retired. It weighs 43 ounces, contains 1,250 kernels and is known as the “Johnson County White” variety. Mr. Clore will keep the prize ear on exhibition at his pTflce until he enters auother exposition. After the sale was over Mr. Clore said: “I couldn’t bear to see the ear go to auyoue else. It’ B part of my life work, folk, to raise corn like that.
