Gifford Road Not Sold.

It was about decided at a meeting .of stockholders of the Chicago and Wabash. Yalley .railroad company, better known as the Gifford road, held Wednesday [of last week at Kersey, that the sale to the New York Central Co., so long figured upon, would in all probability never be made. Mr. Hotchkiss, general superintendent of the New York Central Co., was to have been present at the meeting, bnt he did nob come and the next day he sent w ord that he had been u navoi dabl y detained and would meet Mr. Gifford, the road’s president, later in the week. But again he failed to keep his word and it is now practically certain that the road will not be fold and it was agreed at the stockholders’ meeting to continue building operations to the north, and Mr. Gifford assured the stockholders that the money wa«i available to build the road to Gary, 15 miles from their -present-north terminus. 7 ~ The meeting elected the following officers and directors for the ensuing year: Benj. Ruble, general manager of that company being present to escort them thru the factory. Mr. able is also one of the new directors cf the company. From one of the stockholders present at the meeting it was learned that the New York Central Co. would take no farther steps in the matter of purchasing the road, and that the bailding operations proposed will, be proceeded with as tho there was no deal for the sale pending.
