GEORGE SIGLER, OF MT. AYR, DEAD
George Sigler, for many years a resident of Rensselaer, and for the past twenty years the leading merchant of Mt. Ayr, died Friday morning, at about 3 o’clock, from pneumonia, from which he was sick only about two weeks. He was very low last Saturday and Sunday, but rallied, the fever was broken and his friends thought he was going to get well, but he seems to have been too weak to withstand the critical stages that always follow the cessation of the fever. Mr. Sigler was a member of the old Willey & Sigler firm, that was one of the leading business firms in Rensselaer for many years, their business having been in operation here a. far back as 1868, and continuing until about 1882. Mr. Sigler located in Mt. Ayr shortly afterward and at once became the leading merchant there and has established a large mercantile busi ness and become one of the leading citizens of the county. He has been one of the directors of the Mt. Ayr bank since its organization, his son, Joseph Sigler, being the cashier. He leaves a wife and three children, viz. Mrs. Lee Haskell, of Chicago, and Joseph and Gean, a son and a daughter, at home. He was about 67 years of age. The funeral took place at Mt. Ayr Sunday at 10 a. m., and burial was made in Weston cemetery in Rensselaer,
