REMINGTON HOGS WORLD WINNERS

Probably enough has not been said in the |past about Remington hogs. The name of John A. Teter as a breeder of Duroc Jerseys, and that of J. W. Lock, as a breeder of Poland Chinas, are familiar to stock men all over the county and thruout the country, but probably many do not appreciate to what a degree these men have succeeded in developing these two breeds of hogs and do not know that the stock they have raised is really the very best in the United States. Mr. Teter exhibited his Duroc Jerseys at the Michigan state fair at Detroit and won 11 out of 13 possible first premiums, and took 6 seconds, 3 firsts and 3 sweepstake championships on the grand champion boar, sow and junior boar. He also took both premier championship andall herd premiums offered. The glasses were large and there was plenty of competition from breeders all over the country but Mr. Teter’e Duroc Jerseys are the best hogs in the land and all other breeders took a back seat.

At Indianapolis state fair heVas also successful, winning 4 first premiums, 2 seconds and 1 third, leading all Duroc exhibitors. At the two fairs Mr. Teter won a total of 28 prizes, S2OO in cash premiums 2 silver cups and 3 silver medals, and he sold at fancy prices 12 hogs at Detroit and 13 at Indianapolis. Mr. Lock exhibited his Poland China hogs at the lowa state fair and his stock is given mnch praise in the Farmers Review. He won 14 prizes there after having won 15 at Indianapolis, including Ist in class and championship, on year ling boars, Ist in general herd, Ist in herd bred by exhibitor and grand sweepstakes on herd of all ages. He also had good sales at good figures. This is undoubtedly the most complete victory ever won by a breeder of fine stock in Jasper county and stands ont prominently with any thing ever accomplished by Indiana hog fanciers. All Jasper county should join in congratulating the accomplishment of the Remington men whose intelligent and peisistent labors along the line of perfect breeding has accomplished so splendid a result.
