FANATICS AT FAIR OAKS
The Warrens Guarded Night and Day to Prevent Diphtheria Spread. The Warren at Fair Qsks are a dangerous set of religious fanatics, and their lack of reason* ing and their lack of regard for the welfare of their neighbors has resulted in two deaths, a lot of necessary expense, the danger of spreading a contagion thrnout the little town and the constant alarm of every person living there. It is now abont a month since diphtheria developed in. the family of Will Warren, and the quaran, tine will not be lifted from the qpqae time . yet. Will Warrsp’s family consisted: of himself §pd wife, a daughter named Lnlu %nd her baby* a son 17 years (fid, and two daughters, aged abont 13 and 8 years. Bert Warren’s family consisted of nimself and wife and a baby and her j brother, a 17 year old boy. Xhsy refused to taxe any kind of medicine and persisted in going about the streets endangering every other person. In order tp enforce the quarantine and members of the family from ruitning about the streets, it has beeh necessary to estaolish a day and night guard and Frank Goff mad Ed Griggs have been keeping vigil there for three weeks or more. Dr. Fyfe, the Fair Oaks physician, has worked heroically in thia cases, and has compelled the use of the anti toxin since he went to see the cases. The case did not come to the attention of the public until after the little girl’s death and the anti toxin was adminished when Bert Warren’s wife’s parents came over from Medaryville. B**i Mrs.- Warren and her brother fought against its use butjj were finally compelled to admit of it. The boy died, but Mrs. v’arren is said to be recovering. Her hasband is quoted as saying that he “hoped to God she would die if she let them give her the anti toxin.” - No new cases have been reported and Dr. Fyte thinks he has the cases under control, bat for tSe method employed to restrain them they would have scattered the disease broadcast. The action of the two families has aroused the people of Fair Oalcs to the greatest indignation and it Is not improbable the means will be taken to pnnish those responsible for denying the dependents medical treatment.
