Death of Daniel E. Powell. A Former Resident Here.

Daniel E. Powell, a former resi dent of Rensselaer, and an old reel dent of this region, died Tuesday at noon at the home ot his daughter, Mrs. Harrison A. Warren, at Peru, this state. He had been suf sering for quite a long time wirh a Kidney trouble, and on Thursday of last week suffered a light stroke of paralysis, bis death following Tuesday, as stated. He lived in Newton county, south of Mt Ayr from 1852 until seven years ago, when he took up bis residence with his daughter, Mrs. Warren, in -ienaselaer and four years ago movv ed with them to Para, this state. Hewonld have been 84 years old on Nov. 15th, had he lived until that time His wife died quite a good many years ago, and his only surviving children are two daughters, Mrs. Warren, ol Peru, and Mrs. Ruth Thornton, of El wood, this state. The body was brought back here for interment in the old Powell cemetery, in Newton township, arriving on the 9:55 train this Wednesday, forenoon, * and the fnoeral services weie held at the grave this afternoon, by Rev. T. M. Sannderson. Tbe friends accompanying the body were Mr. and Mrs. Warren, and tbe other daughter, Mis. Thornton, Mr. Warren’s children, Chester and Lillian, and his sister, Mrs. Ellen Oram, of Logansport.
