A Crime Wave At Hammond.

Hammond is struggling with a crime record of metropolitan size. Twenty-five arrests have been made within the past twenty-four hours Citizens are frightened over the condition of affairs and are preparing to protect themselves. Women and children fear to go out after night fall, even with escorts. Frank H. Lyons was held up in his saloon yesterday morning by three masked men and robbed of SIOO. Mary Scherer, 13 years old, 902 Sheffield avenue, was abducted by a man in a buggy.
