Obituary of Archibald Burns.
Died Sept. 19th, 1907. Aged 82 years, 4 months and 2 days. Archibald Burns was born in Streighton, Ayr Shire, Scot in 1825, while a young man he joined the old School Presbyterian church of of AS .ilia i fib flmWf in McMeekin of Comoneu Ayr, Shire Scot To them ten children were born; James H., Arch, Robert H., Thomas M., Isabella* Alexander, Mary A., Lizzie, William and Hugh all of whom are living except Mary A. she having died in May 1902.
He with his wife arrived in this country in January, 1857 direct from Scotland, settled near Fundy, New York State where they lived four years at the end of which time they moved to Tamarack, Will County, 111. In the fall of 1875 they moved to Qoodland, from there to Alexandria, Thayer Co., Neb., in 1880 upon returning east they located at DeMotte where they have lived until the present. Dur ing all these years we have been blessed with one of the best neigh bora and kindest of friends.
We have ever found him upright, honorable and sympathetic and in bidding him larewetf we feel to thelullest extent our great loss, and our only check in our grief, thru knowing that our loss is his greatest gain. His beloved wife, Mary preceded him to their heavenly home just eignt months and two days before his departure. Daring the time he remained with us to brighten our home the only cloud in our life was that of noting his deep grief ovefr the loss ot the companion of his youth and old age. ~T~ The funeral was held at the house Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The pall bearers were four of the sons and two grandsons. Interment in DeMotte cemetery.
