Militia to Have Football Club.
The Rensselaer football interests will be looked after this year by a team organized from the membership of the militia company, and comprising most of last year’s high school team, and several memtters of previous high school teams as well as others who have bad considerable experience in college or athletic football. The team members are: Hopkins, Robinson/ Beam, Chesnut, Grant, Elder, Michael, Woodworth Coen, Brenner, Tuteur, Morgan, Rice and Ross Porter, Collins, Zea, Gorham, Hauter, and others in prospects. Ray Hopkins, the star tackle of last year’s high school team, was elected captain, .and is showing much enthusiasm in putting the boys thru the practice. Harry Parker, who has trained every successful team the town has had for the past six years, is acting as coach, which assures that the best results will be produced from the material.
H. W. Kiplinger has been chosen manager and has wiitten letters to some fifteen towns in quest of games. Now a project is on hand to get a game with Wabash college where Homer Dobbins, last year’s half back star, is to play this year. Culver will also get a game, probably at Culver. The team looks good and should be a winner.
