Best Redortoire Company Ever Here

The Manhttan Theatre Co. closed their three nights’ engagement at the opera house Wednesday with that superb drama “Nell Gwynne.” The house was packed both main floor and balcony and after all available standing room had been sold the doors were then closed and many were turned away. The playing was as excellent as the play, every character being so pleasingly portrayed that round after round of applause followed each climax. The costumes were of the King Charles period and were elaborate and in keeping with the general excellence of the performance. In addition to the fiveact play, the famous Five Columbians gave their beautiful sketch “A Bit of Dresden China.” They were also heartily enjoyed, the character singing and dancing of the 8-year-old girl bringing down the house in convulsions of laughter Schooley and De Angelo, the musicians who appeared and so pleased the auditors, on Monday and Tuesday nights did not perform but the program lasted until 11:20 and every one left the hall with the belief that they had had more than their money’s worth. The promise of a return visit in the spring will be a pleasing bit of anticipation tor those who admire refined theatricals.
