Hammond Times Horrified at Our Jail Delivery.
«■» ■■ ■ The Hammond Times has a great double column headed article._in_ regard to the escape of a couple of pretty ordinary kind of rascals from our county jail, and whom in the headlines are spoken of as “desperadoes.” To judge from this Times article all our citizens are wild with excitement over this incident, and are out in posses and with blood-hounds scouring the country for them. Rensselaer, thank heaven, is not in a community like Hammond, where murders, rapes, robberies, arson, fights, frightful accidents, and all other dreadful occurrences are of daily and Almost hourly occurrence, but still we are not so wholly unac customed to exciting incidents as lo go entirely wild over the escape of a couple of prisoners from our county j til. The Times is an exemplar of the Chicago American methods of journalism, however, and this Rensselaer article is only what was to have been ex pected.
