Foot Racing Sport Revived.

A foot race was pulled off in Rensselaer Wednesday between our local sprinter, John Morgan, and a colored man giving his name as Sportsman and his residence as Lafayette. The visiting runner was accompanied by a manager and they are waiting here for another race or two, it being understood that Morocco has a runner they believe is good enough to trim the colored man. John Morgan has had no coaching as a foot racer and yet he is a fast sprinter and he made Sportsman go some to be&t him out. Neither he nor his friends expected him to win and there was no betting on the contest the contestants running for a purse contributed by hfvers of athletic sports about town. An effort is now on foot to have Sportsman meet Toney the shortstop of the Chicago Union Giants base ball club, and if the meeting is arranged a track, event consisting of several events, short dashes, relay races, etc., will probably be arranged for one day next week and racers from other towns will be invited to take part Cash prizes would probably be offered u
