False Report About Taylor McCoy
A report has been current here the last few days that Taylor Me Coy, sou of T. J. McCoy, bad been convicted of forgery and sent to prison in Illinois for most any old time, up to 1* years. These re ports of Taylor 8 passing forged paper have been current for some time, and the latest of these, being the charge that he cashed a forged check on a saloon keeper near his mother’s honjie in Chicago, las been repeated here with a good deal of circumstantiality, by former residents of our city, now also living in Chicago. As to the troth or falsity of these reports, we have no definite knowledge, but the report that he has been arrested and convicted in Chicago is cer tainly an error, as positive informa tion of his Laving been in Washington, D. C., no longer ago than Thursday of last week re ceived here. Taylor did not make application for a loan, but had theap pearance of desiring one, aud was probably bluffed off by the attitude with which his host welcomed him.
