Horse Grew Faster Than Bill Dug.
W ill Simons took the contract for burying the big horse left on the show grounds and entered upon his work with the impression that he was earning easy money. He had only gone a little more than two feet down, however, when he struck a ledgeof limestone, and after digging around for a while s with shovel and pick he thought he had the hole large enough to meet his measurements of the horse. But the horse had grown some in the meantime and the hole was only about half large enough. From that time on till dusk Bill was busy alternating between the hole dig ging and measurement taking of the fast bloatjng horse and dually decided that he could not get enough depth in that locality. Early Sunday morning Marshal Parks had the horse buried in the animal burial ground west of town.
