Prof. Whelan Succeeding.

Renssel ter friends of Prof; l Whelan, who taught in the high school here in 1905-6 will oe pleased to learn of his success at Lincoln, Neb., as set fort h in the folio wing article from his home paper at Hillsdale, Mich: J. Bennett Whelan came unexpectedly Tuesday for visit with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Bion Whelan for a week or more. Mr. Whelan has been receiving signal honors in his work as instructor in the Lincoln Nebraska, high school. Alrho offered an ipstructorship ?n the University of Idaho, another in the University of lowa and the position as head of the science department in the Everett, Washing ton, high schools, Mr. Whelan returns to Lin-oln again next year as head of the science department and will also act as assistant in Toxico logy in the University of Nebraska. He was elected an honorary Fellow in Chemistry by the Nebraska State University last yesr and this is an especial honor as this is the first honorary fellowship ever given in this department of the university. Mr. Whelan has been acting as assistant instructor in chemistry in the University summer school and in the absence of Dr. Avery had entire charge of the department one week. He will also be head coach of the Lincoln high school next year. His basket ball team won the state championship last winter and his track team won third place out of 21 high sch jols in the state meet. The Lincoln high school enrolls about 1200 pupils with a corps of about 50 teachers.
