Since the nnmb. r 23 became associateci with the term “skidco” and both or either weredntei predated as a modest and polite but very affective way of procuring’the immediate departure of an undesirable visitor, few cities or communities have been so completely hung with the number as Rensselaer is t ow. This “23” happens to be the date of the Hagenbeck and Great Wallace shows in Renstelaer and yesterday another advertising car was here and whatever available space the former car and other agents had not procured, was tak< n in charge and a big 23 stuck over -Th . , *_ . * Telephone poles, bill windows, the sides of building and barns and office interiors are hung with 23s of sizes varying from a few inches to ten feet in height, and after looking at the “skidooed” scenery for a while one may by glancing in the sky on a bright day see the figures emblazoned across the periphery of the blue beyond. And such dreams, 23s on one side and a preat array of jungles beasts on the other. It was this picture that confronted a young lady in Rensselaer as she slept soundly in the arms of— Morpaus, a few nights ago. Considering the 23 command imperative, dhe young lady was endeavoring to make her escape when an elephant of Jumbo proportions took out in pursuit and ran her down, trampling her underfoot, then gently lifting her up with its trunk bore her safely to her home, halting momentarily at the gate to hand her a bill for the circus with a monstrous 23 across the front page.. And all this advertising and 23 business is quite certain to drive every person that likes natural history and arenic art from their farms and business places on this big show day. 23 for you?
