Recovery of Stolen Bicycle.
A fourteen year old boy named Herbert Steel, and whose mother lives up in Porter county, took Dave Yeoman’s bicycle from in front of Grant & Bowen’s store Tuesday morning and started north with it. The wheel was missed shortly and the lai was easily traced and followed. When he was in the neighborhood of the farm occupied by Isaac Saidla, northeast of town, he saw Constable Horatio Bopp, and immediately abandoned the wheel and took off thru a cornfield. Horatio brought the wheel back to town and that afternoon Deputy Sheriff Oliver Robinson made a search for the boy but could not find him. The Steel boy has relatives here and he had been staying here for some time, and probably thought a bicycle trip to his home in Porter county would be quite an experience. He would, it is understood, not be prosecuted nqw, as the wheel was recovered without expense, but a day or two in jail, and a good lecture frojn the sheriff might get the lad started on a straighter road.
