SOME SCHOOL STATISTICS

County School Superintendent Lamson yesterday made his annual statistical report to the State everything the>re is to be found out about the number of scholars en rolled, the avfrarge daily attendance, the total cost of maintaining our schjols, the average per pupil, the cost in town and city high schools, and the salaries of the teachers. The following matters may prove interesting. Teachers of the county last year received a total of $50,961.08, divided as follows: District 5ch0015.....,. ...$33,642.46 Rensselaer city 11,497.5 C Remington town '., 4,190 12 Wheatfield town 1,631.00 The average salaries paid in the district schools per day was males $2.44, females $2.35, the average in the graded schools, males $3 76, females $2. 72. The district school enrollment last year was 2,336 and the average attendence only 1,761.4, showing an average daily absence in the district schools of 575 or almost one-fourth. Of course, the enrollment was larger than the exact number of pupils, some having been tran , ’ferred from one district to another, thereby being enrolled a second time. The percent of absentees, however, seems much greater than it should be. In the three high schools there was a total enrollment of 984, and the average cost per pupil in the high schools was, Rensselaer, 9 months $33.20 Remington, 8 months. 29.41 Wheatfield 7 months 19.11 Superintendent Lamson’s report is a neat & type-written document and exhibits about all there is to know about the city and district schools in the most concise form.
