Old Engineer Sets Record.

Charles Preston, a Monon engineer, holds the record of that road as a man at the throttle. Ten years Jago Tuesday he was assigned to what is is known as the “plug” run out of Lafayette. Siuce that time he has been continually ou that run. At different times the destination of the train has been changed, but he has always continued to stick with the “run.” He has traveled in that time 600,006 miles, has put over sixty barrels of oil on the bearings o£, his engine and his firemen have shoveled over 5,000 tons of coal into the fire box. He says that during his ten years on the “plug” over 1,000,000 people have ridden on nis train and never has one suffered any injury or accident. .
