Monday’s Local. Born, Saturday, Aug. 10th, to Mr. and Mrs W. T. Porter, of near Parr, a son. Miss Pearl Morris went to Chicago today for a week’s visit with her sister, Miss Ella Morris. W. I. Yates and wife left yesto day for a week’s visit with relatives in Hoopeston, Roseville, and Danville, 111. John A. Williams, wife and daughter returned home Saturday from a weeks visit with relatives at LaCrosse. Peter Scallon was np from Lafayette over Sunday visiting his family at the home of her parents, the Hordemans, west of townU Squire John Thornton and wife returned home from Danville, 111., and other places, Saturday where they had been visiting relatives. Misses Mary and Beatrice Yates went to Chicago this morning, where the latter will undergo an operation lor the removal of a nasal obstruction. E. L. Hollingsworth went to Kalamazoo, Mich., Saturday to spend a short time with his wife and children who are spending the summer there. Mrs. Nellie Monahan went to Watseka, 111., this morning, to attend the teachers institute this week, preparatory to teaching in that state again this year; A. L. Branch has just purchased of John Eger the lot west of his coal and wood office, and which he has had rented for some months. The lot is 38x150 feet in dimensions and the price paid *954.
